All About Friendship

Anais Nin opined that "Each friend represents a world in us, a world possibly not born until they arrive, and it is only by this meeting that a new world is born."

Though some natural loners are happy without friends, most of humanity depends greatly on the company of true friends. People tend to befriend those who are similar in background, in personality, and sometimes even appearance, an assortative process that resembles the way in which people select prospective mates. While we do not promote ours site as a dating site, friendships do blossom. However, we do hope to provide a means to establish new friendships and promote social interaction.

Friendship Matters
Strong friendships are a critical aspect of most people's emotional well-being. They can bolster against loneliness, decrease anxiety, and improve one's physical health. When it comes to establishing a friendship, the quality of time spent together proves more important than the quantity. It’s not necessary to form a large network of friends: Research shows that sustaining just a few close friendships can provide tremendous benefits.

Friends Are Similar Deep in the Brain
We tend to be similar to our friends. But you knew that. Aristotle recognized it thousands of years ago. And pretty much everyone is familiar with the cliché about birds, feathers and flocking together. When scientists have tested the assumption over the years, they have found that, sure enough, people are more likely to befriend others of the same gender, age, ethnicity, and so on. There are advantages to surrounding yourself with similar others,. Potentially, like people might share similar goals and assumptions and experiences, and that could help foster cohesion, empathy, and collection action.

Friendships help to improve our happiness, confidence, worth, and coping while giving us a sense of belonging. Not to mention, many friendships may outlast romantic relationships. Typically, we are drawn to friends who will provide reciprocity in the areas we value. We are drawn to our friends on the basis of affiliation too. The two kids with the same lunch box, the classmates who love the same books, and the new colleagues in the same office are all simple examples of how commonalities pave the path to partnership.

Human beings are social animals, and the tenor of someone's social life is one of the most important influences on mental and physical health. Without positive, durable relationships, both minds and bodies can fall apart.
